UPS opens new temperature-controlled facility for pharmaceutical products in Ontario, Canada

Last week, USA-based international courier and logistics company UPS celebrated the opening of a new healthcare distribution facility at its campus in Burlington, Ontario.

The new building is home to one of the largest cold chain coolers in the country and has been constructed to capture business from healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturers in need of temperature and humidity-controlled environments.

The Canadian facility is one of eleven in the country and one of several expansions across North America which together amount to more than 6.4 million square feet of warehousing space for the storage, processing and distribution of pharmaceutical products. The expansion of so many facilities forms part of UPS’ “healthcare logistics global growth strategy” which aims to respond to the growing demand for temperature-sensitive services in the sector.
