DHL has recently launched Resilience 360, a product aimed at business customers intended to help them build resilience into their supply chain and respond effectively to disruptions and global environmental and socio-political volatility.

The new tool enables users to assess critical hotspots in their supply chains and build a risk profile for potential mitigation activities. The product follows the recent publication of a report, "The Resilient Supply Chain, commissioned by DHL, which reveals that companies must build resiliency as well as risk management into their business in order to succeed.

The report identified four factors - consumerism, increasing global interconnectivity, emerging markets and regionalism - which mean that volatility is now the norm rather than the exception to the rule in global business. It argues that, "Companies should build cost-effective flexibility and contingency into their logistics so that they can respond, redirect resources and adopt alternative strategies when a disruption occurs."

The new DHL product, is intended to help business customers do just that. The too links information on a variety of factors including natural disasters, theft and geopolitical risks relevant to both manufacture and distribution.

Bill Meahl, DHL's Chief Commercial Officer, said, "We understand that supply chains are the lifeblood of our customers' businesses and create solutions like DHL Resilience360 to help them meet today's challenges and anticipate tomorrow's. You can't eliminate risks or prevent them from happening, but you can manage them to help minimize the negative impact on your business. With the right tools, you can even capitalize on disruptions and disasters by having the correct measures in place to respond quickly and effectively when competitors can't."
