IATA publishes e-AWB ranking table

IATA, the International Air Transport Association, recently placed Emirates as its highest ranking carrier in operating eAWB shipments. This has recently come to light as per the results of their top 10 league table. The recently published table also shows movement amongst other carriers, with Air France and Qantas continuing to stay put at ranking nine and ten. Other air freight carriers have shown more interesting movement, with IAG-British Airways climbing from their position at eighth to seventh, with Delta being their replacement. Further up in the table shows an unfortunate drop for Dragonair to sixth place, narrowly being surpassed by KLM at fifth place. It appears that UPS have surpassed TNT in the ranking, however DHL International have outshined both in being ranked at fourth place.

It appears that this electronic system is increasing in not only popularity but also in heightening the carriers success. IATA has announced an e-target of 22% for 2014, which is an adventurous increase on the 12.3% that was obtained during December and January of last year. Des Vertannes, the head of cargo at the International Air Transport Association, has quoted the significance and impact that e-freight is having on the industry as a whole, “That is the challenge we [the air cargo industry] are facing. We want to make sure that whatever we do today carries value ultimately to the end user. We have to get people agreeing that this is a common purpose, a common objective.”
