UPS has publicised the launch of its Proactive Response Secure feature; a system whereby shipments are able to be monitored and risk managed, to prevent the occurrence of product damage, as well as protecting revenue for those that are high in value, time and temperature sensitive.

The decision to implement this new feature is a result of a survey carried out by UPS, results of which showed that damage to product as well as spoilage were key issues to the business.

The new feature will use technology to define potential disruptions during delivery in real-time. This feature is to be implemented initially within significant European markets.

UPS Europe’s Director for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing, Daniel Gagnon has pointed out the type of customer that would benefit from this new feature: “Healthcare customers are under tremendous pressure to protect their products throughout the supply chain. UPS Proactive Response Secure can identify shipments impacted by a delay and take corrective action, giving customers a new level of protection for their critical shipments.”

The new Proactive Response Secure system is available alongside UPS’ Express service to and from various European countries, including France, Italy and Spain, in addition to more international destinations such as the USA and Puerto Rico.
