FedEx Express Europe introduces new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans in Madrid and Barcelona.

FedEx Express Europe is introducing new fully electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans in Madrid and Barcelona. The first batch of 33 vans will be integrated into ground operations across Spain in the coming months.

These vans will primarily serve FedEx Express locations in Madrid and Barcelona, with 16 already in operation in Madrid and 17 soon to hit the streets of Barcelona. To support these electric vehicles, a total of 33 charging points will be installed at both sites, powered by renewable energy sources.

Ian Silverton, Managing Director of Ground Operations at FedEx Express Spain, emphasizes the strategic importance of these deployments, stating, "These two locations are key in our network, and these new vehicles help us move towards more sustainable operations in both cities.”

David Perdomo Hollatz, Head of Sales & Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Vans Region Europe & Germany, echoes this sentiment, noting, “I am pleased that our battery-electric eSprinter are helping FedEx Express towards its own goals in the area of locally emission-free delivery. Reliability and customer orientation are important values, in logistics as well as in vehicle manufacturing.”

In March 2021, FedEx unveiled its ambitious plan to achieve carbon-neutral operations worldwide by 2040, with the gradual electrification of its parcel pickup and delivery fleet serving as a cornerstone of this initiative.

Expanding its green footprint across Europe, FedEx Express has already integrated 23 electric vehicles into its operations in London, UK, and 12 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Additionally, 28 more electric vehicles are poised for deployment in the bustling streets of Paris, France, further solidifying FedEx's commitment to sustainable logistics solutions on a global scale.
