What is eBay Simple Delivery?

eBay Simple Delivery is a new shipping service that becomes the default option for most private sellers starting 15 April 2025. Under this system, private sellers will be required to use prepaid shipping labels provided by eBay, with delivery through Royal Mail or Evri. The process eliminates manual tracking updates, as these are automated by eBay.

Collections are only available for Royal Mail shipments, and sellers will need to visit the Royal Mail website to arrange for package collection. If a seller wishes to use a different courier, they will need to upgrade to a business seller account.

Exemptions from eBay Simple Delivery

eBay Simple Delivery is designed for most private sellers, but there are key exceptions where it won’t apply. If your item meets any of the following criteria, you’ll need to use an alternative shipping method:

• International Shipments: Simple Delivery only applies to UK domestic shipments, including the Channel Islands. For international deliveries, you’ll need to arrange your own courier.
• Small, Low-Cost Items: Items priced under £10 and weighing 100g or less are excluded from Simple Delivery.
• Bulky Items: If your item exceeds 120cm in length, Simple Delivery won’t apply.
• Heavy Shipments: Items weighing more than 20kg cannot be shipped using Simple Delivery.
• High-Value Goods: For items valued over £750, including Buy It Now, auction starting price, or reserve, Simple Delivery will not be an option.
• Local Pickup Listings: Listings offering local pickup only will not qualify for Simple Delivery.

What is a Business Seller on eBay?

With eBay’s new Simple Delivery rules impacting private sellers, many may consider switching to a business seller account for more flexibility. Business sellers are not affected by these changes and gain access to additional tools that make selling easier and more efficient.

Although business sellers do pay listing fees, they benefit from a variety of features that help them grow their business, such as:

• Lower fees with a monthly subscription plan.
• Greater control over delivery options, including the freedom to use your preferred couriers<./li>
• The ability to create a custom eBay shopfront for a professional look.
• Access to advanced marketing tools and insights to boost sales.
• The option to create auction-style listings for wider reach.
• Enhanced customer support with higher-tier subscriptions.

You can opt for a flat 30p per listing without a monthly plan, or choose a subscription from £27/month, which includes 250 free listings and reduced fees thereafter.

How to Become a Business Seller on eBay

Becoming a business seller is straightforward. Visit eBay’s business registration page and provide:

• Your business name and contact details.
• Business location and VAT number (if applicable).
